The US realty market faces a peculiar situation. The Obama housing rescue plan does not cover expensive real estate; the kind that costs $400k and upwards (That’s not my definition). This means that homeowners who have big loans cannot go for mortgage refinance and take advantage of low interest rates when they happen.
